BRITISH POSTAL RETURNS. X.niter] Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copvrf^ht. KUGRY, Fobruarv 5. Tho commercial accounts of the British Post Office show a not surplus of £11,944,567 tor the vear ending last March. This is £363,450 less than the previous year’s surplus, the chief reason for* the reduction being increased expenditure owing to the restoration of economy cuts in postal employees pay. The reduction in the surplus <»# postal services was £657,860. Telephones show an increased surplus of £292,054. The telegraph service deficit was reduced by £2OOO. The increase in the telephone revenue coincided with the period in which substantial reductions in telephone charges :»ad been in operation. Ihe Post Office transactions of all kinds with the public amounted during the vear to £859,575,000, an increase of £37,000,000 on the previous year The expenditure on i,he capital account last vear was £7,652,914.
