PRICE OF BREAD.
POSITION IN PA HI ATT A. ThU morning a Herald representative drew the attention of Mr W. 4. Mills to the announcement anent the price of bread in the cities and ventres oi the Dominion, and asked ii the question of a reduction could be considered in Pahiatua. Mr Mills pointed out that the reduction to lOd for a 41b loaf was dependent on bakers paying £l3 8s ♦id per ton lor flour landed in the bakehouse. In Pahiatua bakers had to pay 14s per ton extra freight, and cartage into the bakehouse cost 435, making an additional £1 per ton. He said there was no suggestion of any reduction being made as yet.
