The learners’ classes ot the Pahiatua Band will recommence in the band room at 7 p.m. on Tuesdav, February 18. Owing to tho weather conditions at Alfredton not being suitable yesterday, the match between the Mangamutu and Alfredton Tennis Clubs was postponed, and will now be played next week-end. Interest in the Badger Tennis Cup competition continues with great keenness, there being still five challenges to decide Mangamaire, Mangamutu, Kumcroa, Kaitawa and H ukanui. The Pahiatua Cricket Club lias accepted a match to be played agaiust a Featherston team at Feat her ston next week-end, and in View of this a practice has been called for tomorrow (Tuesday”) at 6 p.m. Results of competition games played on the Pahiatua bowling green lip to this week are set out as follow:—Junior singles: Grantham 19 defeated Tattle 18 ; Chinerv 24 defeated C. Wright 13; Taylor 19 defeated Braggins 15. Senior pairs: Fox and Pi !k in ton 29 defeated Gregory and Kershaw 6. Senior-junior pairs: Braggins and Badger 2o defeated Hankers and Hagan 21; Fouhy and Mills 30 defeated I. Boyens and V. Boyens 10'; O'Sullivan and South 25 defeated Goer and Coldicutt 21. A member of the Tui Brewery staff was proceeding leisurely along to work the other day, apparently without a care in the world, when suddenly his presence on the roadside in the vicinity of the school offended the susceptibilities of a fractious cow' which was one of a mob being driven along the road, and he was charged from behind. Tho animal, catching him unawares as it did, sent him spinning, and he received a nasty gash on the hip besides hurting l is shoulder considerably. Despite his painful experience he reported for duty but carried his shoulder bound up for some days.
