GISBORNE FARES BETTER.
Electric Telegraph—Press Association (OSBORNE, This Day. Gisborne has emerged from Sunday’s storm practical 1> unscathed, no damage being reported in the town or its erstwhile country districts, which as fai as can bo ascertained escaped lightly. The greatest inconvenience was oil used by the disruption of the telegraph and telephone services, communication w ith the outside districts being entirely cut oli until 3.30 p.m. yesf erday. A number of slips occurred on the ma. in highway and other roads on Sunday, but the main routes are nowall open. The Waikaremoan i power supply was cut off on Sunday, but the Borough standby plant was able to carry Hie load until tlie national supply resumed automatically when the main lines disentangled themselves.
