OBITUARY.
S ECOND EDITION
THE LATE MRS. OHLEY. Y ESTER DAY’S FUNERAL. Known throughout the district ns a kindly woman, who was ever ready to help in distress and one whose kindly nature won the esteem and the respect of all who knew and especially those whom she assisted in her lifetime, Mrs G. Oxley, whose deatli at the age of 6vS years on Saturday wa.s a loss to the district.
Born and educated in the Auckland district the late Mrs Oxley when 1(3 years of age went with her parents to Kelson and some years later married Mr Oxley and 40 years ago the young couple came to Pahiatua, where Mr G. Oxley engaged in business as a jeweller.
Of a quiet and unassuming nature, the late Mrs Oxley was devoted to her family and although she did not take a, very active part in social circles, she was ever ready to help those in needy circumstances. A devoted wife, a good mother and one whose good deeds never reached publicity and this won her the highest esteem of all who- knew her. She saw no fan It in anybody and was ever ready to help in any good cause*-. Her loss is on that will be felt deeply by a host el true friends.
The late Airs G. Oxlev was predeceased by a daughter, tin* late Mr*? F. Gr. Hill , of \Y auganui, who died 12 months ago. Xher ■ is one daughter and five sons left to’ mourn the loss of their devoted mother, Mrs Frank, of Wanganui; and Messrs O V. Oxley. Bob. Frank, Ted and Mick, all of Pahiatua. Yesterday’s funeral was indicative of the respect in which thisi ever considerate pioneer was held. Every business establishment in. the town was represented, and although the notice of the funeral was very short the district surrounding was fully represented by the large gathering at the graveside, where the last service was held by Kef. H. Wilson. The pall-bearers were:—Messrs D. Berry. J. W. Sturton. C. Macdonald, A. C\. Paget. Heaton Rhodes. ' 1 Stanley.
