The "Pah m tun, S \vimining Club- was to have held a club night carnival to-night and to-morrow afternoon a children’s carnival had been arranged for. The baths having been .emptied and the water supply being affected by the floods, it was deemed inadvisable to go on with these and both fixtures will take place at the same time next week. Scholars re-assembled at local schools yesterday aj ter their Christmas holidays. Speaking to a Herald representative to-day the headmaster of the Pahiatua District High School (Mr T. Clarke) said the re-entry of five-year-olds had not made much difference in the school roll which at present was about the same as last year. He considered, however. that there might possibly be a difference in the second term.
