•Joan So wry obtained 911 per cent, at the recent examinations for theory shorthand. She is a pupil of Mrs Aston, Pahiatua.
The Mayor (Mi J. D. Wilson.) has received the following telegram from Sir All red Ransom M.P. :—‘ Have received advice from the PostmasterGeneral that tenders have *heen accepted for the new Post Office and residence at Pahiatua.”
When the children returned to the Pahiatua School yesterday they found their grounds in a state of comparative disorder, trees, creepers and shrubs being broken and Uprooted in various places. The damage done by the storm will involve much labour before it is cleared away.
Yesterday morning the water supply of Pahiatua was cut off for a brief period to permit of repairs to a pipe in the lower main street, some damage having been caused by the fallen gum tree the roots oi which had been entwined round a tap.
At last night’s meeting of the Pahiatua Swimming Club, before commencing the business of the evening, the president moved a vote of condolence to Mr G. O. C. Oxley (the club’s official timekeeper) and family, the members standing in silence.
