DRILL HALL.
SEAT ING ACCOMMODATION. The Minister wf. Defence (Hoiiv Jones) was waited upon yesterday afternoon in commotio n with tinlack of seating accommodation in the local Drill Hall, by Mr J. A. Walsli. Speaking on behalf of a number of organisations which use the building Mr Walsh explained, to the Minister’s secretary (Mr Sherwood) that the Drill Hall was absolutely destitute of seating facilities of any description whatever, the result being that when the hall was requisitioned for social and other purposes chairs and forms had to he borrowed from near and far. Mr Walsh added that the building had been partly erected by public subscription, the cost of the flooring being donated, by the late Mr S. Bolton. The principal organisations using the building were prepared to pay an extra pound in rental if the Defence Department would provide the seating accommodation, particulars of which were supplied by Mr Walsh, at an estimated cost of £6O. Mr Walsh’s proposal was very favourably received and the Department will give the matter immediate attention.
