Luck is coming to Pahiatua. A local resident has received word of his success in an Australian lottery, being the successful holder of a ticket winning a £*ooo prize. Schools re-open thiVughout the "Wellington Education Board district on Monday and this week parents have been busy procuring new outfits and overhauling these in need of such. The kiddies have had splendid weather for their freak.
Owing to an oversight the final of the girls’ sprint was not swum off at th«< Pahiatua Swimming Club’s carnival last night but the error will prove a lucky one foi the ultimate winner as an old gentleman present at the carnival has decided to donate a trophy for the final which will bo held at the carnival nextTuesday.
Mr J . Garde Grimshaw resumes teaching at the Oddiellows’ Hall on Tuesdays from 4th February and has vacancies for two afternoon students. Trevor Levy, son of Mr and Mrs ' • Levy, who capped a distinguished career at the Pahiatua Convent school by winning the Dux medal, -has gone to further his studies at Wellington College, and his activities at this seat of higher learning will he watched with keen interest bv Pahiatua residents who will wish him further success in his quest lor knowledge.
