MARY NOLAN ASKS WHAT IS THE PAST. LONDON, December 28. Mary Nolan, blonde film star, whose career lias been dogged by tragedy and bad luck, is to stage a comeback in London. She is appearing i-i a variety turn at the Piecadjilly Theatre for the first time b<«fore a British audience. Mary is determined to forget the I a.st. As Imogene Wilson, Ziegfeld Follies girl, she had New York at her feet when scandal pushed her into obscurity and made her change her name. Then as Mary Robertson she did well on the films in Germany and Ho-llvwood called to her. As Mary N olan she found real fame. She earned £'6oo a week, was the friend cf all the great stars. Then came a drug charge. She was acquitted. Rut it affected her future career. She has faced the Wall St. crash, bankruptcy and business difficulties “What is the past hut an experience to build a future?” she said. •People say I have had bad luck. So lias everyone. I don’t think T have had more than my share. As long as 1 have confidence in myself and retain my self-respect. 1 don’t worrv about the things that have gone hv.”
