FEE-PAYING PUPILS.

CONCESSION EXTENSIONS

A decision to continue concessions that have been gninte-l to tee paying pupils in all types of Go'eminent post-primary schools o last five years has been made by the Minister Or Education (Ho . - Fraser). Mr Fraser said to-day that because a number ot parents w ere still in grave financial difliculty he had approved of an extension of junior free places for an additional rear for pupils at post-primary schools who have not already belli free places for more than two yeais and who had Hailed to secure senior free places at the end of 1930. He had also approved ot an extension to the end of the present year of the senior free places of pupils who will have attained the age of 19 years during the year provided that in the ease of both junior and senior free place extensions the parent of the pupil proves to the satisfaction of the Director ot Education that he is unable to provide the necessary fees for the tuition of his child after tlte expiry ot Ins free place. In the case ot junior pupils, except under special circumstances, no consideration will be given to anv application for a concession if it is not made within a month after the re-opening ot the school. Parents will he expected in the first instance to apply to the principal o»: the school.
