DANNEVIRKE SHOW.

ENTRIES CLOSE ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 31st. The extension of the date for the c losing of general entries for the Danuevirke A. and R. Show should give prospective competitors a further opportunitv of making up their minds but little is to be gained by waiting until the last day. Those who know which classes they intend to enter in will facilitate the secretarial work by sending in their entries without further delay. The extended closing date is now January 31st, but a further period of grace is to be allowed as late entries will not close until February 3rd. All entries. with the exception of those for the cooking classes, have to be forwarded at the latest by February 3rd, while those who intend benching dogs for the Dannevirke Kennel' Club’s show, held in conjunction with the A. and P. Show on February 11th and 12th, should not overlook the fact that entries for this section close on 1 riclay. 31st, with the hon. secretary, Mr O. G-. Ellis. 63 Barraud Street, Dannevirke. or with the secretary of the Dannevirke A. and P. Association. The home industries section is for amateurs only, and in the cooking division the Buchanan challenge cup for class 299, cake, pound, any weight, is still waiting to be won outright. Since it was given in 1929 it has been won by a different competitor each year. There are special classes for electric cooking and classes in home cookery for novices. This department of the show has special appeal to the fair sex, who can be depended upon to maintain the past standard of excellence. In regard to needlework, a points prize challenge cup is on competition for the first time. There are seven special children’s classes. Indications point to this year’s show attracting substantial entries, and with a more optimistic spirit prevailing it should at least maintain, if not exceed, the high standard set in the past.
