With a majority of five points, Otago retained the War Memorial Shield at the junior and intermediate swimming championships which concluded to-night. South Auckland and Southland tied for second place ■with three, while Wanganui, Wellington and Canterbury each gained ©ne point. Two further records were broken to-night. Miss Xawi Kera (South Auckland) lowered her own national junior record for 100 yards from 67 I—s to 664,. while Miss .Islay Purdie reduced Miss Edna Rainey’s 100 yards intermediate gills* from 6-5 1-5 to 64 4—5.
