Mr Peter Lau -cu. a well-known Alangalnaire settler passed away in tho Pahiatua Public Hospital last w.-ek lie came to New Zealand iu ] <7-5 and soon took up his residence in the AVairarapa, where lie wa> engaged in the arduous <uid heaw .. . ... teamster driving, helping* t . pack supplies for tip* contractors engaged in building the main read through the AVairarapa to Wellington, and later being instrumental in conveymg the machinery for the first -a vrmill in Pahiatua.

Jn 1898 Air Lawswi purchased. a farm at Alangainaire. and lie remained there farming the property with much success for many years, niarrying tho same year Miss Catherine C roft. the daughter of an Imperial Army Aiaori War veteiau. During his residence at Alangamaire Air Law son was verv closely connected with the dairy imlu-trv, and lor year* was chairman of the Mastertou Dairy Coinpanv. at « years acted as chairman of th« Rexdale Daily Company.
