THE INSTITUTE MOVEMENT.

EXECUTIVE MEETING. A meeting of the executive committee of the Bush-Wairarapa Federation of Women’s Institutes was held in the Lodgeroom of the Foresters* Hall, Pahiatua, on Saturday. 25st inst. The President of the Federation Mr« J- D. C. Crewe (Pahiatua) was in the chair, others present being Mesdames N. M. Pur nett (Woodville) and C. Jennings (Maknri) vicepresidents: F. W. Joblin (Gladstone) T. Avery Weston (Alfredton), S. J. Hobbs (Hamua), E. C. Jolly (Martin borough), W. H. Nixon < Woodviile) Hon Treasurer and R. C. Austin (Pahiatua) bon. Secretary Season's Greetings were received from the Presidents and executive committees of the Northern-Welling-ton, Southern-Wellington, Marlborough, Tauranga and Wanganui Federations and a number of the Institutes comprising this Federation, also from Mrs W. il. Stainton the former lion, treasurer of the Federation. Apologies for .absence were received from Mrs F. Cowlam (Eketahuna), Mrs P. R. Welch (Upper Plain) and E. Douglas McLachlan (Mount Bruce). Correspondence dealt with included a notification from the Dominion Federation that the Annual General Meeting would be held in Dunedin on the 29th. 30th and 33st July. It was decided that tin Remit passed at the Annual Council Meeting of this Federation in May last, be forwarded to Headquarters for discussion at that Meeting. It reads as follows: “That to aid the preservation of our beautiful Maori language, each Institute bo urged to ascertain the correct pronunciation ot its own name and do its utmost to have the correct name used by Institute members, school children, etc/’ In connection with nominations for voluntary organisers for this Federation the committee decided to ask for the re-appointment of the* prefent organisers, viz. Mesdames .1. D. C. Crewe, P. R. Welch. K. C Jolly and R. C. Austin. It was mentioned that visits had teen paid by one? or the other of the V.O.’S to nearly all institutes in the Federation in addition to the formation of ten new Institutes during the past year.

It was decided that remits for discussion at the Annual Council Meeting of the Federation to be held at Masterton on the 22n:l April next are to reach the Hon. Secretarv by 2nd March, Institutes to be notified accordingly. The President. Mrs Crewe, wished all members of the Executive a Happy New Year and hoped that, it would be a happy and successful year for our movement throughout the Dominion. The usual vote of thanks to the chair concluded tht* meeting.
