THE DANNEVIRKE SHOW.

ENTRIES CLOSE ON JANUARY 28th. One of the most popular of the autumn shows, the Dannevirke A. and P. Association’s annual fixture, to be held on February 11th. and 12th, promises to be as attractive on the coming occasion as formerly. Wlith only a few days left for the closing of the general entries, intending exhibitors should see to it that they do not overlook the closing date, January 28th. Cooking entries close on the morning of the show, but those interested in the needle work classes are rminded that their entries must be made on Tuesday, January 28th. Animals competing in the fat cattle section for the Armstrong challenge cup for most points in two-year-old baby beet must be led and will be Judged in the ring. There are two valuable prizes in the Romney classes, a 10guinea cup for most points and a valuable challenge cup tor the best group of three shear, consisting of one two-tooth ram, one four-tooth (two-shear or over) ram, and one two-tooth ewe. Attention is drawn to the six classes in which the sheep are to be shown in natural condition—two for rams, two for ewes, and two for lambs (ram and ewe). Similar classes are included in the Southdown division, and it is the hope of the society that they will all be given generous support. In Southdown s there is the breeders' cup for most points, also one for the most points, open and natural condition, and a gold medal for the best two-tooth Southdown ram, owned by a member of the Southdown Sheep Society and registered in the flock bpok. In the farmers’ classes, comprising three, a challenge cup is to be competed for for the first time, going to the district exhibitor gaining most points. This should be an incentive to farmers residing in the society’s district to become competitors. The children’s pet lamb classes have two restrictions—they are open only to exhibitors 14 years of age and under, and who reside in -the society’s district. The fat lamb section his particularly well endowed with challenge trophies—four JO-guinea cups and a silver tea set, and those interested should make themselves acquainted with conditions outlined in the schedule. The fleece wool classes should be valuable to woolgrowers from an educational viewpoint. There are five in all. This section was a great success last year, and there is reason to believe that these classes will again bo productive of good entries and keen competition. Any information desired respecting any seqtion of tlie show will be supplied on application to Box 38, Dannevirke, or ’phone 2470.
