DANNEVIRKE SHOW.

Schedules and full information in regard to classes at the 27th annual A. and P. Show being held by the Dannevirke District A. and P. Association are available free on application. The horses and competitions receive a liberal share of the prize money offered, the jumping events being most attractive. The maiden hunters’ competition carries £9 9s cash in addition to Mr D. G. Speedy’s cup, valued £lO 10s, which is to be won outright at this show, while on the second day the champion open hunters’ competition is held and the prizes are: First £3O, secon 1 £l-5, third £5. Numerous trophies in jumping events and hack and pony classes are allocated for competition. With a view to encouraging breeders in the district, the draught horse section has been revised and more classes added. It is predicted that this section will be well filled this year. The* X.Z.. Aberdeen Angus Cattle Breeders’ Association have donated £ll 11s as special prizes in their section, the amounts being allocated to first and second yearling males and females and a group of two, one male and one female over two years. A donation of £l9 15s has been made by the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association, together with the Dannevirke District Jersey Cattle Club, to increase prizes in the Jersey section and special classes have been added. The Wairarapa. and Forty Mile Bush branch of the New Zealand F»riesian Association have shown interest in their section behaving classes inserted for heifer and bull calves, to be exhibited and led into the ring by children under 15 years, the prize money for these two classes being provided by the Wairarapa branch. Jn each ease the first prize is £1 os. second 10s, and third os. Other breeds of cattle, sheep and pigs are well provided for. The dairy produce section should be a special attraction to factory managers. A revision of the needlework and home industries' section is meeting with the approval of a large number interested in these classes. The Kennel Club has a special schedule which may bo liad on application. General entries close on Tuesday, 28tli January, and dog entries on the 31st.
