GROCER ATTACKED.

Furness, the proprietor of the Dominion Store, Mn-amar. was struck on the head by one of his assailants, receiving a nasty gash. He also suffered considerably from shock, and today was confined to bed, Mr Furness was awakened'at about 3 a.m. by a burglar alarm, which connects with the shop and. accompanied by Mrs Furness, he went to investigate. Her calls for help were.' heard by Mr .Mount, a butcher residing next door, who arrived on the sc lie with a baton, but by now the burglars wore almost ready to escape by a car. lilt Mount rushed at the. car with bis baton, but missed the driver, striking, tils' windscreen, which, he broke. The driver swore volubly and his two companions began bombarding Mr and Mrs Fvrnes s and Air Mount with tinned fruit. They then drove off. It is understood that the car was later found abandoned in Miramar avenue. Bloodstains were on it. Only about £1 in cash, was taken from the shop. OTHER BITRGL.AR IKS. Dhe premises of O. A.
