SNAKE AND A MOUSE.
BATTLE OF WILLS. A correspondent of a Sydney paper relatc's that, while strolling among the trees of his orchard at Kurrajong, he noticed a large brown snake several yards in front of him. The snake was gazing fixedly at a bush mouse, which stood quivering in front of it. unable to move. The battle of wills continued for almost a minute. Then the mouse, advancing slowly at first, finally* rushed towards the snake and jumped straight between its open jaws.
