“HIPS HIPS, HOORAY”

WHEELER AND WOOLSEY. An epic in “goofigandering” with delightful insanity mad© to seem reasonable by the inimitable Wheeler and Woolsey, “Hips. Hips, Hooray” will make its bow on Thursday night at the King’s Theatre as an RKORadio musical extravaganza, with lots of beautiful girls, hit tunes, original dances and spectacular moments, m the most, pretentious production yet co-starring these comedians. Lavishness is maintained in cast as well at, production f.or Thelma Todd, Ruth Etting, Dorothy Lee, Adele Thomas, and Jean Connors supply supporting talent for the two clowns; and for those who like entertainment spiced with femininity on a grand scale, more than 100 beauties —blonde, brunette and red-head—ca-vort about in places ranging from the office of a beauty shop to plate glass hath tubs. “Hips. Hips. Hooray” offers Wheeler and Woolsey as peddlers of flavoured lip-st.icks, with varieties ranging from vanilla to raspberry. The clowning pair meet Thelma Todd and Dorothy Lee, proprietors of a million-dollar cosmetic corporation suffering from business depression and within a very few minutes have ‘‘personalitKil'’ themselves into a partnership. All is well with the boys—lint not for long. A largo sum of money is found to foe missing, and it seems that Bert and Bob aro tin only answers. They decide that flight is safer than arguing the matter over with any representatives of justice, and flee hv joining a. cross-nation automobile race. That they know nothing of automobiles, racing, cross-country loads and weather conditions mgan nothing to th© retreating jesters. Bait they finally scamper into an audience-surprising climax which is an epex in comedy effect s.

Thor© is an excellent supporting programme comprising Pat lie Newsreels, “Pals” (a cartoon), “Mickey’s Orphans” (a. Mickey Mouse Cartoon), and “The Count” (a Charlie Chaplin comedy).
