At the Gisboine annual horse fair there was a. considerablv larger ent-v than usual. For the first day 150 broken horses were offered. There >va s a good demand for good types of *.71 weights. Stylish weight- carrying hacks sold from £l7 10s to £l9 and several others sold above £lO Me dmm weights including diirdv 'packhorses, made £l2 to £27 ton at the latter price being four years. Of tinheavies, a few made £4O to £44 IQs and many £3O to £4O. A special eiitry, account D. Mills, all in foai mares, rising six years, averaged £4O ss. There were small vardings at the weekly Central Hawke’s Bay catt’e sale yesterday Beef sales- showed a slight advance on Stortford prices. The market for dairy cattle was again dull. Fat ewes sold well, otherwise values were much the same as last week. Prime heavy Shorthorn heifers topped the market at £6 l>bs 6d, light prime P.A. cows made £4 9s ; big-framed Shorthorns £4 4 S • prime Jersey cow £3 17s 6d ; 18 yearling store P.A. heifers £2; 14 "l> \ Hereford two-year £2 6s ; good dairy Jersey cows £2 10s and £2 7 8 6d Sheep: 47 prime wethers 26s 6d • 60 ditto, 23s : 16 ditto. 25s 6d • 20 priir» ewes 25s 9d ; 41 ditto, mostly maiclens, 26s : 14 ewe lambs, prime, 22s • 230 ewe lambs, 21s Id; 57 good’ storwether hoggets 19s 7d ; 101 ditto off hill country 17s 2d.
