GRAND LAUGHTER TONIC.
SUMMER LIGHTNING.”
Ralph Lynn’s asinine fooling lias always been a joy to this writer, and his work in the new film “Summer Lightning” at the King’s Theatre tomorrow evening is no exception. The stoi*y is a characteristic burst of C. G. AVod eh ouse’s brilliant nonsense, and concerns a feather-brained young man who steals a prize pig with the clever intention of returning it later to win its owner’s consent to his niece marrying the schemer, Ralph Lynn makes an ideal Wodehou.se hero, trading in that absurdity which has made the author famous ‘he world over. These characteristic fatuities keep the plot moving at a great pace. The Wodehouse dialogue is witty and extremely amusing, and situation after situation raises a great laugh. Winifred Shutter, justly described as Lynn’s ideal partner, brings all her demure wickedness to the leading feminine role, and Dorothy Bouchier is a. vivacious chorus girl out of the hero’s past. “Summer Lightning” is a laughter tonic that must be seen. A full supporting programme includes the latest Graham McNamee Newsreels.
