The aboriginal Nemaluk was found guilty of having murdered a Japanese named Owashi at Port. Keats in July 1931 and sentenced to death.

Two other Japanese were also- killed at- the same time and for tJh.eir murder five natives are already con- \ icted. Nemaluk's sentence is to be commuted to life imprisonment as it lias been tin practice never to hang an aborigine in the Northern Territory.
