WANTED TO SEE SICK MOTHER.
STOWAWAY’S EXCUSE. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Conynght. LONDON, April 6. Frederick Hopkins has been remanded for a week on a charge of stowing away on the Moldavia at Fremantle.
He pleaded that it was a son’s love for his mother that made him do it as the only way to reach his mother, who is sick.
The prosecution said it was intended to put Hopkins ashore at Colombo, but he disappeared and left a note in a cabin suggesting that lie had committed suicide, but was seen walking the deck at Port Said.
