TUTAEKARA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

The monthly meeting of the above ’lnstitute was held in the Maori meeting house. After singing the Institute song, the president (Mrs J. Mabey) referred to the motto for the day, “If you have sunshine in your heart, don’t keep it, pass.it on.” .The usual business was dealt with: Tt was agreed to hold the first birthday party in the. Konini Hall on M«y 16th. Miss M. Miller, Konini, gave a most instructive and interesting demonstration on making pictures with chocolate paper, the exhibition being keenly watched by all present. The monthly competition, £he prettiest sugar-bag cushion, was won by Miss A. Henderson, Mrs G. Wilson being second and Miss A. Mabey third. The Misses Miller kindly acted as judges. A novel competition, peeling an apple blind-folded, was won by Miss A. Mabey and Miss Henderson was second. Afternoon tea was handed round by the hostesses, Mrs G. Wilson and Miss D. Ward. A most enjoyable gathering was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem. Miss Miller was at the piano.
