CRASH INTO GARAGE.
SECOND CAR WRECKED
HORSE-FBOAT DAMAGED

A young B eliding man who converted a car to his own use in Hunterville succeeded in doing quite a considerable amount of damage and coming close to breaking his ne £if before he was apprehended. Tim car stolen was Mr J. M. Abel s, and it was removed from tile mam street and driven off in the direction of Mr T. A. Duncan’s homestead, “Otairi.” The driver met with some trouble en route leaving the road at one corner but suctfeeded in righting the car. ’ At the entrance to “Otairi" ” he apparently mistook the drive leading up to the homestead for the maul road, and speeding at 50 miles an hour lie dashed into the garage, crashing , n to one of Mr Duncan s ears. So great was the force of the impact that the latter vehicle was thrown forward into a horse-float which in turn crashed through the back of the l,ig shed. Ml Abel’s car was badly damag<cl, but Mr Duncan’s fared even worse, being wrecked almost beyond repair. The horse-float also suffered damage.
Ilie driver escaped with two fcuall cuts. He was placed under arrest and was subsequently committed to the Porirnn Mental Hospital.
