TRUE FISHING STORY.
' From times immemorial the retailing of a story having fash as its subject has been received with a certain amount ot unbelief. A tale, fantastic as it may appear, is vouch eel for by three fishermen who spent the week-end at the Pomahaka River, Otago. One of the men was followed up and down the river bank by a large grey tomcat for about aii hour, and when the violent Diggings of the line denoted that a fish was on the end of it the annual became very excited. As soon as the fish was pulled out ot tlie water the cat, to the fisherman's amazement, jumped in and snatched it olt the line. Had the vision of ta two companions not corroborated him, the fisherman would not have been able to believe his own eyes.
