BOXING NOTES.
I be local gymnasium was crowded with fistic* fans on Thursday evening when some splendid ‘try-outs” were witnessed. The stai display was a six tliree-minutes bout between Ted Oxley and Harold Reeve. It was a. great exhibition, and the contestants were warmly applauded when “Sock” Oxley called a truce. The O Brien Bros., of Manganmtu. made* their debut and gave a very creditable exhibition of the manly art. They will probably be matched at the next tournament. Other boxers who shaped well were GeorgeT Gregory, of Man g.ah ao, Bill Walsh, of Pongaroa, Norman Pratt and Sefton Walsh. Harold Reeve has improved 50 per cent. He is in the \ ery‘ pink of condition, is faster and cleverer and boxing better than ever.
