REMOVING TAR-STAINS.
During the summer months children frequently come home with tar stains on their gloves, socks, or shoes. Oil children’s washable garments'v* they are best removed with a first treatment of lard, and a second treatment of warm soap and water. Rub the lard liberally over the stains and leave on for about half an hour before washing. Th© stains will completely disappear. Tar stains on a carpet will yield to treatment with a paste made of fuller's earth and turpentine, while those on shoes may be successfully removed with turpentine applied with a soft cloth.
