GIRL STOWAWAY.
ARRIVES IN NEW. ZEALAND ON MONOWAI. Elec trio T" lesrrapb—Pro«sAssociation WELLINGTON, February 6. After the Monowai had left Sydnev on her last trip a stowaway, a young gill aged 161, was found on board. Her name was Lizetto Anderson, and she stated that she was trying to reach New Zealand in order to join her father, who had gone to Auckland, leaving his family in Sydney. The members of -the crew took up a. collection and sufficient was raised to pay the gill’s fare. The party of Australian farmers on board also took up a collection to pay her railway fare from Wellington to Auckland. She is at present being detained by the police while inquiries are made regarding her father’s, whereabouts. A rather similar occurrence took place recently when the Ma rama came across from Sydney to Wellington. A young man was found to have stowed away on the ship, and a collection was taken up among the passengers to pay his fare. The girl stowaway, Lizetta Anderson, appeared in the Police Court, charged with being an undesirable alien. She was remanded until Saturday. Lizetta explained to a reporter that she was a writer and had remained in Australia sifter her father and mother went to Auckland because she wanted a book published. Failing this she had no way of getting money to go to New Zealand, so went on the Monowai as a stowaway. “I just walked on hoard,” she said. “No one knew i did not have a ticket until I told them. It was a nice trip. The stewards paid my fare and I was given enough money to go to Auckland as soon <as I can get out of this bother.”
