WOMEN SPIES.
BLONDE BEAUTY UNDER ARREST. CUI.TVEED LINGUISTS. (Received 11.10 a.m.) United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS. December 29. No fewer than seven women are now under arrest in different countries charged with spying for the international espionage ring. Women named are Vonstahl, closely questioned by the Magistrate regarding her relations with Marie Louise and Schule, a beautiful Latvian blonde arrested at Helsingfors in October. Both are gifted linguists. The women are of exceptional culture and knowledge of the world. Though Vonstahl is 38 she is still handsome. She appeared in Court wearing cheap clothes, recalling a gu l student of the French Universities. There is little direct evidence against her so far disclosed, the chief fact being her intimacy with Professor Martin, but she denied that; Martin ever gave her a document. Vonstahl added: “The charges against me are lies, invented in Finland.”
