STRIKING SETTING FOR RAGE BALL

THE HIGH-HATTERS ARE COMING.

Many times lias the Drill Hall undergone a transformation for one function or another but never lias it looked so strikingly attractive as it does now in readiness for the Race Ball on Friday night next. Mr Ron Smith has carried out a most original and appropriate scheme depicting vividlv a racecourse itself. He has shown all the artistry of his late father, Mr J. T. Smith, and patrons will be delighted with the perfect setting. To describe it here in detail would only, spoil the pleasure oi a genuine surprise and suffice it to say that the scheme is brilliantly conceived and realistically executed. Nothing in previous years has ever approached it and that is a bok. claim indeed. The first appearance on this side of the range of the Mayfair HighHatters’ Cabaret Band from Wellington is being awaited with every eagerness because oil all hands only the highest praise lias been sung ot tliis dazzling combination. They are not just a. collection of instrumentalists but a trained band, every one ati out-and-out artist, led by the popular Denis Colliiison, the singing violinist. When they iot themselves go on such recent hits as “1 ink Elephants,” “Hold Mo,” “I Wish 1 Know A Bigger Word Than Love, and “Porsoiwu friend of Mine theie is no resisting the urge to dance. All other arrangements se far as supper and claret-cup, etc., are concerned ale every bit as elaborate as in previous years. The Stewards are cut to give the public one night of unadulterated enjoyment and ll only ball the visitors come who already have definitely expressed their firm intention of doing so then the 1933 Race Ball will lit a function long to he remembered.
