SUBSIDY PAYMENTS.
Electric Telegraph—Press Association STRATFORD, September 3. “That the Unemployment Board be asked to make it compulsory to employ unemployed tradesmen on buildings erected under the* subsidy scheme” was a remit carried by the Stratford Farmers’ Union. Speakers alleged that unemployed men were not being employed by certain contractors. The present operation of the scheme was diverting funds from the unemployed.
