HAPPENINGS AT NIREAHA.

The annual meeting of the Nireaha Tennis Club was held recently before a very satisfactory muster of supporters. The president, Mr H. W. J. Pryde, occujhed the chair. Officers re-elected were: Patron, Air J. Dumbleton ; president, All* H. AV. J. Pryde; club captain, Air O. B. B. Lozell. At a previous meeting tenders were invited for improvements to the present courts. After much discussion it was decided to accept the tender of Laykold, Ltd., AVellington, and they will be coming up to fulfil their contract. It is hoped that an early start will thus be made and as public support is increasing rapidly a successful season is anticipated. The meeting decided to hold the opening day on Labour Day.

The many friends of Air Jack Hawkins will be jileased to learn that he is making a good 'recovery from liis recent break-down.

Air Norman AYoodley, of Nireaha, has found it necessary to enter the Alasterton hospital for treatment. All* Al. N. Suter was a visitor to Daimevirke and Napier recently. Airs Lozell, who broke a bone in her wrist at a recent skating evening, will be laid up for about six weeks, although a good recovery has so far been maintained.

The Nireaha Football Club has now finished its season and the seniors were successful in retaining the Studebaker Cup, while the third grade team were runners-up in the championship. Air Gordon Stark, who had the misfortune to break a small bone in his leg while playing at Alauriceville recently, is now able to get about again. The Nireaha Club greatly appreciate the donation of 10s 6d received from the Old Boys’ Club, to go to the relief fund for their injured player. The Nireaha supporters are highIv jubilant over the success of the Bush ladies’ hockey team competing at the Dominion tourney at Dannevirke.

The local Domain Board has found it necessary to prohibit skating in the hall, as it is considered that it would prove injurious to the floor.

Opossum trappers who have been operating locally are now nearing the end of their season and by reports to hand they have had a. very successful season. If prices stay at the present level their time and work wifi be well rewarded.
