WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.

KUMEROA-H OPE LANDS. The August meeting of the Kunie-roa-Hopelands "Women's Institute, was held lately, when there were about_ 30 members present. Mrs B. H. Norman presided. A vote of condolence was passed with. Mrs Austin, who has lately suffered a bereavement. Miss D. Mabey supplied the motto for the meeting}. Mrs Norman gave an interesting account of the conference which she attended as delegate. Her remarks were listened to with great interest. A ‘bring and buy” stall was held to obtain funds for Federation pur-, poses, and was well patronised. Mrs { O. Mackie gave a delightful demonstration on making lamp shades, and displayed a lovely shade—the result of ~ her work. The pouffe shade was won by Mrs F. N. Ivemp, who guessed the" correct number of peas in a bottle (1540). A letter of congratulation on her election to Dominion President is to be forwarded to Mrs Paterson, of Pahiatua. The hostesses were Mrs Little, Mrs F. N. Kemp;' and Mrs Hudson.
