In common with other parts of the district, a number of Makomako residents have been suffering from a severe attack of influenza. As the result of a motor accident, Mrs W. Sowry, of Nikan, has been confined to her t>ed for a fortnight. The car, driven by her son, Mr V. Sowry, went over a bank on the Pahiatua—Palmerston North Track, during a dense fog, a distance of 20 feet. The 'driver escaped injury but Mrs Sowry was considerably shaken and bruised.
