AUCKLAND CENTENARIAN
Electric Telegraph—Tress Association AUCKLAND, August 22. The 102nd anniversary of her birth was celebrated to-day by Mrs Frances Mary Speakruan, of Newmarket. She was born in Berkshire village of Appleford, near Oxford, on August 22, IS3I. She is confined to bed now, but slie is still in possession of all her faculties, although her eyesight is failing somewhat. Mrs Speakman was married in London in 1850 to the late Mr William Speakman. They came to New Zealand by the sailing ship Mataoaka in 1859.
