In response to a request from the Eketaliuna Dental Clinic for a grant of £lO, it was decided to vote £'s (the same as last year), the Mayor commenting that the Clinic was not hard up, and Cr. Olsen remarking that if they became hard up they could apply again. It was stated at the Kaiparoro ( lieese_ Company meeting that of some 2700 cheese crates handled for the year, only seven were unaccounted for. A shareholder remarked that this item was sometimes a source of leakage. .. The first of the white butterflies ior the season have made their appearance in Eketaliuna. Ihe Mayor of Eketaliuna reported that the by-law governing itinerant traders appeared to be a washout. There was a request by Mr Page, on this ground, for the refund of £5 recently paid for a license. Cr. Tripe regretted that the townspeople showed no disposition to help themselves. The conditions of the Hall lease should prevent it being let as on the recent occasion. He thought every borough in the Dominion should be approached with a. view to evolving a water-tight bylaw. It was decided to refund the amount, and to refer the by-law to the council’s solicitor for revision.— Express. “I don’t think anyone can cavill at the balance-sheet,” said a shareholder at the Kaiparoro meeting, llie chairman; ‘‘lf you can you have got your manager skinned.
