CHILDREN’S DANCE AT KOHINUI.
(C or respon den t.) A crowded hall presented a scene of gaiety on Friday evening, the occasion being the school children’s an. 'nual dance. From 7.30 till 9.30 the young folk danced to their hearts’ content, the senior boys acting an M’s.C. The programme was as follows:—Danish dance of greeting; chain waltz ; merry-go-round ; schottische, Hail King George; Gay Gordons ; Please !>e my partner; Monte Carlo waltz; shoemaker’s dance; valuta; nuts in May; two step; Noiru Meigo, Pigeon House; polka; reap the flax; Pdlly put the kettle on. Prizes for the lucky Gay Gordons were annexed, by Myra Corn forth and Trevor Swanney. A musical stick game was won by Diana Bolton, while Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Noela Thompson and Walter Allen. and Myra Comfortli and Donald Dick. The adults then took their turn on the floor to excellent music provided by Mr Signal, and with Mr Keith Fulton a s M.C., proceedings went with a swing. A delicious supper had just been served when the news of Mr S. Bolton’s death came to hand. Mr W. Fulton, of the School Committee, announced the sad tidings and~ the gathering immediately disj»ersed in token of respt'ct and honour for the deceased gentleman, who. lor so many years, had done all in his power for the welfare of our district.
