KAITAWA CHURCH.

DEDICATION CEREMONY

The dedication of the new church at Kaitawa took place on Sunday' afternoon.

The service opened by the singing of Psalm 118 verses' 19, 20, 28, 29, “Open me the gates of righteousness,” etc., outside the closed doors of the church. After the doors had been opened by the Moderator (Rev. D. Scott) the hymn, “We love the place O God,” was sung as the clergy and congregation took their seats. The opening prayer was said by the Moderator and the lessons were read by the Revs. K. L. Warren and V. A. Bianchi. Prayers were offered by the Rev. V. A.' Bianchi. Hie Dedication was performed by the Moderator, who then delivered his address, taking as his text, St. Matt. 16, verse 18: "Tliou are Peter and upon this rock 1 will build my church.” In a very stirring address the preacher showed what could be done by one man who became possessed or inspired by an ideal. Peter, in a flash of insight, saw that Christ was the Soil of God and it was upon such insight that Christ proclaimed this church was to be built. In illustration, the preacher showed what had been accomplished by individuals in the past and even in our own day. In Russia he said a mighty nation had been changed bv one man, Lenin, and millions of Russians bowed to and worshipped Lenin. Y\ hat would have been the result if Lenin had been possessed or Christian ideals-' "What conlcl he not have accomplished? Yet in the past one man had done as much. 1 aid the Apostle had changed the whole outlook of the world of liis any and his influence had permeated the whole of the known world so mighty is the Spirit of God working in His ( hurch. Let such thoughts as these inspire us to stir up the kP”’ l * which is in us Christians. I lie service concluded with the singing of the hymn, “The Church’s On-.* foundation,” and the Benedictmii pronounced by the Moderator. I nere was a very large congregation of both Anglicans and Presbyterians, and the singing was most hearty. Mrs H. A. Bick was organist.

°n SnucLiy evening after service, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Assembly was met in the Anglican Schoolroom by the session of the Piesbytenan Church and some memhers of St Peter’s Vestry. Supper was served by the ladies and the ifey. v. A. Bianchi, in extending a welc?me to the Moderator, on behalf of himself and his Vestry, spoke of the growing bond of union and fellowship which existed between the members ol the various churches, tench a gathering as the present was a. foretaste of that closer union and unity which we all hope and pray and long lor. The Moderator, in reply, sounded a note ql hopefulness and courage for the future and made an earnest appeal to all to go forward and do the common work for Christ and His Church to the best of our ability ail rri 1,1 n s PiHt of brotherhood. Jhe Rev. K. L. Warren in closing, voiced the thanks of himself ana his session at the opportunity which had been provided for all to meet together on common ground.
