THE LATE MR. S. BOLTON.

A VERY LENGTHY AND REPRESENTATIVE FUNERAL.

Probably the largest, certainly the most representative, funeral ever seen in Woodville was that of the late Mr Samuel Bolton, of “Oete ” yesterday afternoon. Few who attended, or who passed the exceedingly lengthy cortege could fail to appreciate that here was a man who had left his mark indelibly on the district, who in life had commanded the deepest respect and whose many estimable qualities had endeared him to a host of friends. t Die Pahiatua and Woodville dis--nets were, naturally, strong in representation as befitting one who had divided his long life of remarkable public service between the two contiguous towns and counties. Others included mourners from Danncvirke, Akitio, Gisborne, Napier, 1 almerstou North, AVanganui Ekctaliuna, Masterton and Wellington, numerous local bodies being represented also among the number. The cortege left the homestead at .o.i o clock, the hearse conveying several of the principal floral tributes, while immediately behind was a motor lorry with its platform simply piled with beautiful wreaths. ita route taken to the main road was through the “Oete,’ property, thence via Thompson’s, River and Hardings Roads. There were upwards of a. hundred cars m the cortege from “Oete” to the Woodville Cemetery, in itself a striking tribute.
