The Pahiatua Herad PUBLISHED EVERY EVENING SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 1933. A DISTRICT LOSS.

In the death of Mr S. Bolton, the lvhole district has suffered the loss of a sterling settler, and one who rendered a lifetime of magnificent public service. Mis was an outstanding record of unselfish devotion to the people and the numerous local bodies, of which he was for such a lengthy period a member, will miss a gentleman who was universally regarded as possessing an unusual amount of knowledge in county and other local body law . The deceased gentleman’s career was a great example to the younger generation of public-spiritedness and self-sacrifice. Me contributed very largely in a practical manner to the rise and development of the district. Mis administration as chairman of local bodies and institutions was marked by much wisdom and his influence in this connection extended far beyond the confines of the immediate district in which he was so well and popularly known. There are many who can gratefully recall his generous benefactions and many unostentatious acts of kindness. A life, full of usefulness has closed and great numbers will pay their sincere tribute to the deceased gentleman, who was so very widely and affectionately esteemed.
