Week-end gossipers say that Mr Philip Snowden will have no difficulty' in meeting the Budget deficit, without imposing additional taxation “either upon the industry or upon the poor.” Mr Winston Churchill is expected to make a statement concerning his own political future at a meeting of Conservatives in his constituency' this week. Walter Runciman has decided to retire from Parliament next election. He will devote himself wholly to business. Lord Joicey, prominent in the north country, and a life-long Liberal. announces his secession from the party on account of its support for the Labourites. Mr Neville Chamberlain admits that changes in the staff of the Conservative organisation. which his opponents are attributing to the failure of the Conservative Party to make headway', are desired by the party leaders. The Observer’s political writer says that Sir Oswald Mosley’s resignation from the official Labour Party is imminent. He intends to lead a new movement cutting across all parties.
