BENCHMAN BADLY INJURED BY CAR.
Electric Telegraph—Press Association HAMILTON, This Day. • T en , era * damages, £9OO, and specie damages, £382, were awarded William Styles, 29 years, in the Supreme Court at Hamilton in a claim arising out of an accident on the Mamaku—Rotorua highway on January, 1929, when lie was knocked off a motor-cycle by a service car, driven by Harold Bates. Plaintiff was seriously injured and the machine damaged/ Prior to the collision plaintiff wa.s employed as a benchman but as a result of injuries received he was unable to work until April, 1930. He thereby lost wages amounting to £420. ‘ Since iVLai ch be had been able to work as a casual employee only. Plaintiff’s injuries consisted of compound fractures of the right leg above and below the knee, and injuries to the right ankle which bad permanently shortened one leg by an inch' and stiffened the ankle. He was incapable now of working as a benchman Special damages totalling £7Ol 5s and £ISOO general damages were claimed.
