THE NAVAL CONFERENCE FRANCE AND ITALY STAND OUT (Received 11.10 a.m.) L nited Press Assn —By Electric Telegraph—-Copyright. LONDON, March 21. A strong impression prevails that the middle -of- next week will bring to the surface the real position of the naval conference. It will not he in the least- surprising if it is announced that hope- is abandoned, of getting France and Italj into line. This feeling, is heightened by the absence- of news from Paris whether M. Tardieu is returning, coupled with the liact that' the remaining French delegates are going home tonight. Air Ramsay MacDonald and Air Stimson this morning discussed disarmament and afterwards the- Prune Minister had a, conversation with Wi-katsuki on the- same subject. The Ivin-g received Mr MacDonald in the customary audience at Buckingham Polo-ce. The Premier then departed for Chequers and returns on Sunday evening. PARIS, March 21. M. Tardieu announces that he is returning to London when the conference takes a definite turn.
