WELLINGTON WOOL SALE NO ADVANCE IN PRICES. Electric Telegraph —Press Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. A small catalogue of 11,935 bales was offered at the fifth Wellington wool sale to-night, the wool being generally of indifferent quality. Bidding was unusually .vigorous but reserves were too high for buyers, only 60 to 65 per cent of the catalogue being sold. Only a limited quantity of super wool was available. Generally, there was a decline from the last Wellington sale of one penny a pound on crossbreds and lambs’ wool and a halfpenny to three farthings on skirtings, although prices were on par with those at Dunedin and Invercargill. The offering was mainly crossbreds, there being the merest sprinkling ot Merino and halfbreds. Super crossbreds of 46/48 quality sold 111 one or two cases at B,’cl to 9d, this being about the highest pi ice realised. Super medium crossbred made 6Jd to 7/d and these prices were most often heard in the sale room. The bulk of the bidding came - from Bradford, with an occasional bid on behalf of America, wnen a super line was offered, there was a fair inquiry for lambs’ wool but prices were not up to last sale. Coarse crossbred, 40/44: Average, 6id to 7Jd; inferior, od to 6d. Low crossbred, 36/40: Average, 6id to 7id : inferior. 5d to 6cl. CANTERBURY RAM FAIR. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night, For the Canterbury A. and P. Association’s ram fair, there was an entry of 314 stud rams and 5524 flock rams. , A feature' of the fair was the good demand for English Leicesters. I here was a ready sale for Southdowns in the flock sections .but stud Southdowns were slow of sale at reduced values and passings were frequent. The top price for Southdowns was 65 guineas, sold by Mr H. J. Andrews (Maheno) and Mr H. Grigg (Long Beacn). English Leicester's were the biggest section, totalling 98 head. Lower grade rams were not much in demand but there was sustained enquiry for better sorts. The top price was 80 guineas. There was a marked slackening in the demand for both stud and flock Cor—riedales. Following is the range of prices paid for stud rams (the 1929 figures be ng in brackets) : Border Leicester, 8 to 40 gns (15 to ,2>. English Leicester, 7J tG 89 (15 to 12, J), Southdowns, 7 to 65 (8 to 100;, Shropshires, 10 to 40 *2O to 25). Romneys, 6 to 30 (12 to 20). Corriedaie, 6 to 50 (10 to 225)

Cattle: Store cows showing condition sold particularly well. There was a. good demand for potter hulls, which sold at £5 7s Gd for light, and to £lO 10s for heavy. Fat cows: Jersey, heavy £5 15s to £8 6s, light 65 ss; P.A. cows £5 15s to £7 7s 6d ; venlers £4 12s 6d ; bullocks £l2 5s ; store cows, good £6 15s, poor from £3; heifers, r.w.b. £4 10s; Jersey do, £5; Holstein steers £4 10s ; steer calves to £2 3s ; heeler calve,, Sos; wearer heifers good £2 10s; dsflrv cows, in milk £5 os to £7: springing cow® £9 10s Pd to £ll 15s.
