SWIMMING SPORTS

SECOND EDITION

SECOND NIGHT CARNIVAL A GREAT SUCCESS. There was the faintest nip in the air but the weather was beautifully fine and clear last evening for the second night carnival of the season held in the Alunicipal Baths by tlio local Swimming Club. Several strong counter-attractions seemed to hare little or no effect on the attendance, which again was extraordinarily large, the excellent sum of £27 Is being taken at the gate. A lengthy and varied programme was got off with expedition. there being plenty of willing officials to ensure tlTis. An additional row of lights above th© dressing room doors added to the brightness of the scene. There was a galaxy of talent to contest the chief events and the neighbouring towns such as Dannevirke, Feilding, Palmerston North, AA'oodville and Eketahuna were very strongly represented.
