Association, said it afforded hi;n much pleasure in asking Mr Hansom to formally open the show. The member required no introduction to the district Since he h ul been returned to Parliament fie 1,-ul been elevated to the Position ot Minister of the Crown and the people of this district should, therefore loel pleased at having their member of Parliament holding Ministerial • ffire (Applause). , Ihe Hon Mr Ransom said he "'US v ...... pleased to have the opportun- \ • n this occasion ot meeting so m y anv residents of the district. He •’imli.rhted with the success of Ui’ir s l,ow? and he understood that it

practically constituted a record gathering. The work of A. and P. Association’s materially benefited the Department of Agriculture, for by their co-operation there was effected an improvement in stock. In a country, and especially so in this district, where the maximum production had practically been reached, and the charges in cost of production were heavy, increase in volume was not an easy matter, but attention could be centred on an increase in quality. The Minister believed that A. and P. Associations could do a great deal for the country by working with a view to introducing some of the finest stud stock from other parts of the Empire. The climate and other conditions here were ideal for the breeding of first-class stock. Already the Dominion was producing a class of animal that was increasingly in demand for the export trade, and he was convinced that if the A. and P. Associations co-operated with the Department of Agriculture something greatly beneficial would be accomplished and the result would be an enormous increase in the wealth of this Dominion. (Applause). Cheers for the Minister terminated the ceremony.
