HIGHLY CREDITABLE DISPLAY IN SHEEP AND CATTLE CLASSES
HON. E. A. RANSOM PERFORMS OFFICIAL OPENING. Grey skies greeted those concerned with the Pahiatua A. and P. Show on arising yesterday and though, throughout the morning, rain threatened, none fell. By noon the sun had dispelled the mists, and a glorious autumn afternoon favoured the . holding of the nineteenth annua] fixture of the Pahiatua Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The brilliant sunshine heralded an equally (brilliant show, the best, without exception, in the history of the district. In almost every way did the gathering constitute a record. The standard o.f the .stock exhibited has seldom been equalled; the number of entries, certainly, have never been approached. In this respect the figures for all previous years were easily eclipsed. Th© attendance, it is gratifying to note, was greater than ever, last year’s record takings of £125 15s being exceeded by the wide margin of £lB 16s. The Show was officially opened, by' the Minister oif Public Works (Hon. E. A. Ransom), who complimented the officials on 'the phenomenal success of the 1929 gathering.
