The weather was fine and bright yesterday for the Caulfield races, which the State Governor attended. There was a largo attendance, including some New Zealanders. Gothic won the Caulfield Stakes, bringing his total stake winnings to over £-3.000. He was second early in the race, but finished strongly and won brilliantly, gaining a popular success. Balmerino li unshed with a lightning run and won the Guineas in the last stride. The time equalled the race record. The winner is trained by the ex-New Zealander Dave Price, and has 7.3 in the Alelbourne C"U7> and is also engaged in the Derby. Spear King won the first division of the 1010 AYolter all the way.
